    This is to announce an exciting opportunity for an Executive Director at the Fire Museum of Memphis, the premier fire museum in the United States and part of the great family of museums in Memphis, TN. This opening became available after our existing director was offered her “dream job” at a larger museum in the area.


    The Executive Director of the Fire Museum of Memphis (FMOM) is responsible for the development, execution, and management of the policies, programs, and initiatives of the Fire Museum of Memphis, as guided by its Board of Directors. This includes, but is not limited to: developing and executing both a strategic plan and a fund development plan, leading fundraising and donor management efforts, overseeing day-to-day operations of the FMOM and staff, and maintaining excellent communications and partnerships with the Board of Directors, other stakeholders, and the general public.




    .     Bachelor’s degree

    .     Five or more years of experience in a strategic role at a non-profit or for-profit organization          

    .      focused on education, community relations, or public relations

    .    3-5 years managing direct reports.

    .    An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered


       Preference given to the following:


    .      Proven fundraiser

    .      Current relationships with potential partners (corporate, institutional, governmental, etc.)

    .     Experience managing donor relationships Successful museum experience and education                  related to museum management

    .      Successful museum experience and education related to museum management



    Total compensation commensurate with experience.

The Fire Museum of Memphis has launched a fundraising campaign that includes a new commemorative brick program. The Fire Museum has begun selling engraved bricks that will be placed in the courtyard of the museum. The bricks can recognize an active or former firefighter, or they can be purchased as a memorial or honorarium. Bricks can also be purchased as a show of support for the Fire Museum or the Memphis Fire Department. For information about purchasing a brick, please go to https://fmm.engravedbricks.com/.
