The Fire Museum of Memphis, “the Premiere Fire Museum,” is excited to announce a new $350,000.00 exhibit to the Fire Museum of Memphis, “Honoring Our Heroes.”
Donated to the FMOM by native Tennessean, Darrell Lynn and his wife, Kimberly, the exhibit opened in Central Park in New York, City, on the 10th Anniversary of 9-11. “Honoring Our Heroes” is scheduled for grand opening September 11, 2014, immediately following the Memphis Fire Department’s Memorial Service at the FMOM beginning at 8:45 AM.
The Fire Museum of Memphis received a $50,000.00 award from the Assisi Foundation of Memphis for the purpose of establishing a home for “Honoring Our Heroes. The 14 foot high by 9 foot long exhibit depicts the faces of nearly 403 First Responders who gave their lives at the World Trade Center on 9-11, painted on 4 inch tiles in the shape of an American Flag. Design 500, an award winning museum planning and design firm, created the area in the museum surrounding the exhibit, which also honors the 67 members of Tennessee Task Force One who deployed to the Pentagon in the aftermath of 9-11.
