Book signing for The Promise: A Pioneer Firefighter's Story
The Fire Museum will host Dr. Antoinette J. Crawford-Willis for a talk and a signing of her children's book on Saturday, February 24, 2018 in celebration of Black History Month. Her book, The Promise: A Pioneer Firefighter's Story, is about Memphis Fire Department Deputy Director Robert J. Crawford’s experience as one of the first African American Pioneer Firefighters in the city of Memphis. Her book was published to celebrate her father’s legacy through storytelling. We hope you will join us as Dr. Crawford-Willis shares her father’s story from a child’s perspective.
About the author: Dr. Antoinette J. Crawford-Willis recently returned to Memphis from Louisville, Kentucky where she served as Chair of the Kentucky Alliance for Arts Education. Dr. Crawford-Willis was a Master Teaching Artist at the Kentucky Center and also served as an Artist Educator and Consultant for the Kentucky Arts Council and The Kentucky Department of Education.
The event is free to the public, and copies of the book will be available for purchase the day of the event in the museum gift shop. Last admission for a museum tour is at 3:30 pm. Admission to the museum is $10 for adults, $8 for children ages 3-18, and $8 for seniors and military.
