Patrolman assigned to the Fire Insurance Patrol was one of three firefighters who died while fighting a fire at the Johnson Motor Company at 333-37 Monroe Avenue at 4:25 a.m. on December 2, 1934. All three men were killed when a wall collapsed followed by an explosion during the fire. He had been with the department for five years. James Benton Faulkenberry, 31, was married and the father of one son.
