James W. Doyle

Lieutenant assigned to Pumper No. 6, collapsed while fighting a fire at the B. Kruger Grocery Store at 717 North Second Street on. He was operating a hose line at the base of a ladder when he apparently suffered a stroke. He was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he died. He had been with the department for 25 years. Lieutenant James W. Doyle was a widower and the father of six children.
