Fire Station No. 1 @ 118 Adams Avenue

Old Fire Station Number 1 is at 118 Adams Avenue, Memphis, TN 38103. It was built in 1910 and sits next door to the original Memphis Police Department, which was built in 1911 at 128 Adams Avenue. After over 80 years of service to the citizens of Memphis, the station was placed on permanent loan to the Fire Museum of Memphis in 1998. The building's front showcases two bright red arched doors where apparatus was pulled from the building by horses, and later, motorized apparatus was driven out. The building currently houses exhibits including:

Old Billy - a horse that was stationed at the museum back in 1910 and helped pull the E. H. Crump Steamer

E.H. Crump Steamer

There is a children's Play Area where they can drive a simulated fire engine, ride in a snorkel bucket to put out a fire, dress up like their favorite firefighter, and slide down a brass pole.

On the second floor, they can enjoy the FedEx Fire Room, Memphis First Exhibit, Uniform Patch Exhibit, Great Fires Room, and the AutoZone Safety House.
